Retirees Pension Checks
Retirees receive the first pension check on or around the first of the month following their effective date of retirement. (For example, if a member retires on July 1st, that retired member would receive the first pension check in the mail on or around August 1st; that pension check would be the pension payment for July.) Thereafter, pension checks would be received on or around the first of each month.
Retirees who do not receive their pension check by the second Tuesday of a month must contact NHRS.
To avoid delays in receiving a check by mail, retirees are encouraged to participate in the Electronic Direct Deposit (EDD) program. EDD is available at no cost to retirees and ensures pension payments are received on the last business day of each month.
