Retirees first pension check is mailed on the last business day of the month, following their effective date of retirement. For example, if a member retires on July 1st the first pension check will be mailed on the last business day of the month for July.

Retirees who do not receive their pension check by the second Tuesday of a month must contact NHRS.

To avoid delays in receiving a check by mail, retirees are encouraged to participate in the Electronic Direct Deposit (EDD) program. EDD is available at no cost to retirees and ensures pension payments are received on the last business day of each month.
