Controller - NHRS is seeking a Controller to oversee general ledger accounting and financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely financial statements and compliance with GASB and GAAP standards. Key responsibilities include managing audits, preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), supporting budget development, and supervising accounting staff.
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, eight years of progressive financial experience, and strong leadership and communication skills.
Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000 a year.
Chief Legal Counsel - NHRS is seeking an experienced and strategic legal professional to join our Executive Management Team as Chief Legal Counsel. This executive-level role reports directly to the Executive Director and oversees all legal functions of the organization.
The Chief Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal guidance on matters related to benefit structure and eligibility, employment law, administrative appeals, service provider agreements, and governance practices. This position advises the Executive Director and Board of Trustees, leads legal strategy and compliance, and supervises a team managing administrative hearings, domestic relations orders, and legal policy development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Advise on statutory interpretation and implementation of organizational policies
- Serve as legal liaison to the Board’s Benefits and Governance Committees
- Coordinate with external legal counsel and review legislation affecting NHRS
- Lead the collective bargaining process and manage all legal communications
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed (or eligible within 6 months) to practice law in New Hampshire
- At least 10 years of legal experience, including administrative law and supervision
- Preferred experience in pension law, employee benefits, contracts, and governance
This position may require occasional in-state travel and evening availability.

Member Account Technician - NHRS is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Member Account Technician. This position supports the administration of member accounts by reviewing and processing personal and financial information submitted by participating employers and members.
The ideal candidate will be organized, analytical, and committed to delivering high-quality service to public employees throughout New Hampshire.
Salary Range: This position is assessed in band F, $19.50-$29.20, NHRS is hiring between $19.50-$22.72
