🆕 Member Enrollment – Upload Documents Before First Payroll

What Changed:
NHRS has introduced a new New Member Enrollment feature in DRS that allows employers to enter member details and upload documentation before submitting the member's first payroll.
This process is intended for brand-new members who have never been reported to NHRS.
Use of this feature is optional. Employers may continue to enroll members using a Transmittal File or Web Entry when submitting their first reported contributions.
Why It Matters:
This update gives employers more flexibility during onboarding by allowing documentation to be submitted earlier in the process.
It helps ensure timely, accurate reporting while reducing errors when the member’s first payroll is processed.

🆕 Position Title – New Field for Accurate Role Reporting

What Changed:
NHRS has introduced a new optional field called Position Title to help capture each member’s role more accurately.
This field replaces the previous use of the Employee ID field for job title information, which was originally collected on the paper enrollment form (discontinued in late 2024).
As of May 28, 2025, use of the Position Title field is optional, but encouraged.
Employers can provide Position Title information via file upload or directly in DRS using Web Entry or while clearing exceptions.
The system allows free-text entries up to 60 characters.
Why It Matters:
Capturing position titles helps ensure accurate reporting and improves clarity around each member’s role.
This supports cleaner employer-submitted data and helps maintain reliable records in the NHRS system.
