CONCORD, NH – Beginning in the fall of 2015, the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS, the retirement system) will discontinue mailing Member Annual Statements. The statements will be available online via My Account, the retirement system’s secure online portal.
All members were notified of this change in their 2014 statement; NHRS is posting this notice as a reminder.
Below are answers to some common questions concerning this transition:
Why is NHRS making this change?
Delivering the Member Annual Statements online will contribute to the retirement system’s ongoing efforts to conserve environmental resources and reduce administrative and mailing costs.
How do I view my Member Annual Statement online?
Members are able to view, print, and download their annual statement through My Account. Online statements are identical to paper statements – the only difference is that they’re delivered securely through My Account instead of through the mail. Previous Member Annual Statements going back to 2009 are also available to review and download at your convenience. To view a statement, log onto My Account, click on Member Statement and select the appropriate year you want to review.
What if I don’t have a My Account?
It’s easy to register for My Account.
1. Go to www.nhrs.org/my-account
2. Click on the “Active Members” link to open the registration page and fill in the required information. Instructions are available under the “Help” link at the bottom left of the page.
When will 2015 Member Annual Statements be available?
Statements are typically available in early fall. NHRS will post a notice online when statements are available and also notify subscribers to our email list.
What if I want to continue receiving my Member Annual Statement in the mail?
NHRS is changing the default delivery option to online; however members may still request a paper statement by changing their preference to mail delivery. Click here to download the NHRS Annual Statement Delivery Preference Form or call (603) 410-3683 to request a form be mailed to you.
NHRS provides retirement, disability, and death benefits to its eligible members and their beneficiaries. The State of New Hampshire and more than 470 local government employers participate in NHRS for their employees, teachers, firefighters, and police officers. NHRS has approximately 48,300 active members and 31,000 pension recipients. NHRS administers a defined benefit plan qualified as a tax-exempt entity under sections 401(a) and 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.
