CONCORD, NH – The New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS, the retirement system) will no longer accept email attachments to its general information email address (email@example.com) effective August 1, 2022.
The protection of confidential communication is extremely important to NHRS and we want to ensure your information stays private, which is why we are taking this step. Emails can be intercepted during transmission, and unencrypted messages (and any attachments) can be read, and potentially copied and forwarded, by anyone. Additionally, bad actors can send unsolicited emails purporting to be from a member, retiree, or employer that contain malware or viruses.
The retirement system already offers other ways to securely submit documents electronically:
Zix Secure Message Center: This free, easy-to-use email encryption application makes it seamless for you to securely send attachments to the retirement system. To access the Secure Message Center, visit https://web1.zixmail.net/s/login?b=nhrs.

Instructions on using the Zix Secure Message Center:
My Account Secure Document Upload: Members and retirees who sign up for My Account, the retirement system’s secure online portal, can submit forms and other related materials to NHRS through the secure document upload option. The following file types can be uploaded through My Account: .PDF, .DOCX (Microsoft Word), .JPG, .PNG, .TIF. Users will receive a confirmation email when a file upload is successful.

Members, retirees, and employers may also submit documents by mail, fax, and drop-off. NHRS has a locked drop box in our vestibule available Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and is open for walk-ins to drop off completed paperwork between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
NHRS understands that this new process includes additional steps; however, this change is consistent with our mission to protect the integrity of member and retiree data. The protection of confidential communication is important to NHRS.
