The Non-Reporter Exception: Do Not Delete the Member

Sep 25, 2026

When you receive a Non-Reporter Exception, it is important to remember: Do not delete the member from your reporting batch.

Members should never be deleted unless you have been instructed to do so by your NHRS Employer Relationship Manager.

Why am I receiving a Non-Reporter Exception?

You are receiving this exception because the member is considered an active, full-time NHRS employee, but the member was not included in your reporting batch.

One of the most common reasons for this exception is that the member has terminated from an eligible position.

What should I do if the member has terminated?

If the member no longer works for you and has no additional wages to report, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the termination date and termination reason. Click Update to save the termination information to the member's details.
  2. Delete the pay period cards. Click on the pay period cards and delete them. Once the cards are deleted, the Pay Period Detail will turn gray.
  3. Change the status. Change the status from In Error to Corrected.

The member may receive another Non-Reporter Exception that NHRS will need to override for you. If this happens, please contact your NHRS Employer Relationship Manager for assistance.
