Retirees or beneficiaries who qualify for a medical subsidy benefit through NHRS will receive an annual questionnaire via U.S. Mail. Mailings will begin the last week in December.
What is medical subsidy?
The medical subsidy is a payment toward the cost of the health care coverage an eligible retiree and/or beneficiary receives through the retiree's former employer.
How to complete your questionnaire
To ensure that NHRS continues to provide the proper subsidy amount to eligible members and beneficiaries, please complete the questionnaire and return it no later than March 31, 2026. A postage-paid envelope will be included with the questionnaire.

Who is eligible?
Not all retirees are eligible for this subsidy. The Legislature limited eligibility to a closed pool of members and retirees more than a decade ago. Only retirees or beneficiaries who qualify for the medical subsidy will receive a questionnaire.
