CONCORD, NH – Charles Nickerson was recently appointed to the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS, the retirement system) Board of Trustees as an employer member representing the New Hampshire Association of Counties (NHAC).

Nickerson brings 15 years of governmental finance experience to the Board. He currently serves as Finance Director for Rockingham County, New Hampshire, a position he has held for over a decade. Prior to joining the County in 2009, Nickerson spent five years in public accounting, including as a staff accountant at Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, P.A., and six years in private industry.

Nickerson also serves as Treasurer of the NHAC and is a member of both the New Hampshire Public Deposit Investment Pool (NH PDIP) Advisory Committee and the New Hampshire County-State Finance Commission.

In addition to his professional achievements, Nickerson has been actively involved with Scouting America in Rochester, New Hampshire, for 18 years, holding various leadership roles.

Nickerson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire, with a minor in History.

NHRS is administered by a 13-member Board of Trustees that includes one employee member, one teacher member, one firefighter member, one police officer member, four employer representatives (one each representing the state, counties, schools, and municipalities), four public members, and the State Treasurer. All trustees – with the exception of the State Treasurer, who serves ex officio – are nominated by the Governor for three-year terms and must be confirmed by a vote of the Executive Council. 

Any newly appointed or reappointed Trustee must have familiarity with or experience in finance or business management. Nickerson's term runs through July 13, 2028.
