CONCORD, NH - The New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS) has become aware of an email from a third-party encouraging members close to retirement to sign up for a free “retirement planning review with a Public Employee Retirement Adviser.” THIS EMAIL IS NOT FROM NHRS.
The email was sent by a California business known as Fed Resource and the subject line is “New Hampshire Employees (NHRS) Approaching Retirement....Review These 5 Benefits Before Setting Your Date.” The sender is not affiliated with NHRS or the State of New Hampshire.
Members approaching retirement who want to meet with an actual NHRS Benefit Specialist may make an appointment by calling NHRS at 410-3500, Ext. 3. Note: Our office remains closed to visitors due to COVID-19, but virtual appointments are available.
NHRS provides retirement, disability, and death benefits to its eligible members and their beneficiaries. The State of New Hampshire and nearly 470 local government employers participate in NHRS for their employees, teachers, firefighters, and police officers. NHRS has approximately 48,000 active members and 39,000 benefit recipients. NHRS administers a defined benefit plan qualified as a tax-exempt entity under sections 401(a) and 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.
