Active NHRS members may retire and work part-time for retirement system participating employers. New retirees who take a part-time position with one or more retirement system participating employers are allowed to work a maximum of 1,352 hours per calendar year.

This law also contains a 28-day separation from service requirement and financial penalty for any retiree who exceeds the maximum permitted hours.
